| Phase two, March 1, 2010. This project is made possible by a competitive grant awarded by the Washington State Heritage Capital Project Fund, administered by the Washington State Historical Society. “We are pleased and grateful of this grant award, allowing us to renovate and upgrade our elevators that were installed in 1972,” says Oakes, CEO of the Spokane Masonic Center.
Schindler Elevator Company is the contractor for the project that is estimated to be completed by summer’s end of this year. The project will allow the Center to be accessible with one elevator in operation while the other is being upgraded. The upgrades and renovations will replace the original DC electro-mechanical systems with updated with a computerized AC systems, new cabling and meeting current code requirements. The completed updates will generate energy savings and has qualified the Center to receive an energy rebate from Avista Utilities once the project is completed.
